Our opinions
Children's Manifesto
Unga Örnar believes that all children have the right to a good and fair childhood. Politicians in Sweden must follow the Convention on the Rights of the Child. All children should have the same opportunities, regardless of who they are or where they come from.
Environment and climate
We believe that all children have the right to a future on a healthy and safe planet. Politicians must take the climate crisis seriously and keep their promises of a sustainable future. All children should be able to grow up in a society where nature is protected and where we humans live in balance with the environment.
What we stand for
We stand for three important things: democracy, which means that we decide together and that everyone’s voice is equally important; equality, which is about everyone having the same rights and opportunities regardless of who they are; and solidarity, which means that we help each other and stand up for each other – both at home and around the world. That’s what we call working for an equal childhood!
We are free from religion and party politics, which means that we do not belong to any party or church. In our organization, we do things together. Children, young people, and adults fight to ensure that all children can be just children, have the same opportunities in life, and be able to say what they think. Unga Örnar also works internationally for children’s rights around the world, for a future where all people are free and treated equally.
How we make decisions
Every three years, Unga Örnar holds a congress where children and young people from all over the country gather to talk about issues that are important to them.
The congress consists of delegates (representatives) who are elected by the districts and nominated by the local branches. All members within Unga Örnar can submit motions (proposals for changes) to the congress; local branches and districts can also do so. The motions are processed and discussed at the congress, and then the delegates on site make decisions.
It is democracy in practice, where children and young people get to participate and shape our organization and Sweden. In addition to the motions, the delegates also make decisions about our political programs, which are programs that provide guidance to the board and the entire organization. The programs are guidelines for what we should strive for during the congress period, that is, until the next congress, which is held every three years. Read more by clicking on each of the programs above.
